Katy High School West Campus awarded Excellence in Wood Design Award

HOUSTON ' The Texas Forestry Association (TFA) Marketing Committee has awarded Katy High School West Campus with the 2014 Excellence in Wood Design Award in the Institutional Category. The TFA considers the Excellence in Wood Design Award a 'well-recognized symbol of outstanding achievement in project designs using wood products.'

A combination of reclaimed maple wood flooring from the old gymnasiums, and brand new flooring, were combined to create unique architecture features in the new Katy High School West Campus. Recently, Dr. Steve Robertson, principal of Katy High School West Campus said, 'How blessed are we at KHS to have such a beautiful facility that supports teaching and learning in so many wonderful ways! We are grateful to all of the people who made it possible!'

'This is a first win for VLK,' said VLK principal of creative Kenneth Hutchens. 'The most important part of the West Campus project isn't just the award but that the project is loved by Katy ISD.'

The award will be presented at TFA's Annual meeting in Lufkin, Texas at a luncheon on October 22.
