Ringing in New Traditions at Denton Comprehensive High School No. 4

DENTON, Texas ' On Nov. 6, Denton Independent School District hosted its groundbreaking ceremony introducing the new comprehensive high school No. 4. The immense passion and excitement from students to school board members was prevalent as the school prepares to 'ring in' new champions and establish new traditions.

'We are incredibly excited about what's in store because we've been waiting for this for a long time,' stated Susan Bolte, Principal, Providence Elementary. 'It's truly about the kids and we are proud of the accomplishments that led to this and thrilled for the future.'

VLK is leading the success of this project as the premier designers who will ensure every detail is met to support the needs of the district and its students.

'VLK is like family,' said Barbara Burns, Vice President, Denton ISD School Board of Trustees. 'We trust them to do their very best, never to cut corners and have faith in any decisions they make.'

The school is designed to house 2,400 students with future plans to expand the facility to 3200 as the population on the 380 corridor increases. Collaborative learning spaces and sustainabledesign has been a central focus as the vision of the school is to unite the community as the hub for the 380 corridor.

'Groundbreaking is the beginning of a construction process, but for VLK this is a milestone,' says John Brooks, VLK Architects. 'We've been working with the district over the past few years to understand the goals and vision for this facility.'

VLK Architects' vision for Denton Comprehensive High School No. 4 to support and serve the needs of the district, the students and the community will become a reality in August 2016.
