VLK Architects chosen for Rockwall ISD Bond Projects

VLK Architects provided budget estimating and scope verification for a variety of projects included in the Rockwall ISD 2015 Bond Referendum. The VLK team helped the district to develop individual project cost estimates as well as overall project budgets on select projects with cost escalations applied for the anticipated construction time frames. VLK assisted with conceptual planning and developing project timelines for those select projects. The Rockwall ISD bond package was designed to impact every student with new and renovated schools, basic maintenance and capital upgrades, technology and security updates, new buses and sports fields and a College and Career Academy.

VLK was subsequently selected by the district through a qualifications based RFQ and interview process to provide professional services for the district. The first project awarded to VLK by the RISD Board of Trustees on December 14, 2015 would be the Dobbs Elementary Replacement School. This school was initially programmed with 105,000 SF during budget estimating and is proposed to open in the Fall of 2018. The district also ranked VLK as the top firm to provide architectural services for their new prototype elementary schools No. 15 and No. 16. These schools are anticipated to open in 2020 and 2022 respectively.

'This is an excellent opportunity for our company, being selected to provide architectural services for Rockwall Independent School District. I commend and appreciate the selection committee for the thoroughness and professionalism of the qualification and selection process,' said VLK Principal, Richard Jaynes. 'We look forward to working with the district in the design of their new facilities, creating exceptional learning environments that reflect the goals and philosophies of Rockwall ISD communities.'
