VLK Architects projects earn TASA/TASB awards

FORT WORTH, Texas ' Three VLK Architects projects have been awarded Criteria Awards from the Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) and the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB). The winning projects are James and Barbara Adams Elementary School, Bettye Myers Middle School and Katy High School West Campus.

Each year, the Criteria Awards are given at the discretion of a six-member jury. VLK Architects was the only architecture firm to submit multiple projects and receive awards on every project submitted.

The winning projects include:

'The TASA/TASB awards competition is the largest educational architecture competition in the state of Texas,' said VLK principal Kenneth Hutchens. 'However, these are not just VLK awards but awards for the individual school districts. Their vision and planning spearheaded these projects, and their passion and tenacity allowed for the success of their award-winning schools.'

'How blessed we are at Katy High to have such a beautiful facility that supports teaching and learning in so many wonderful ways,' said Dr. Steve Robertson, principal, Katy High School West Campus. 'We are grateful to VLK who made it possible!'

The projects will be on display at the Exhibit of School Architecture at the upcoming TASA/TASB Convention held this year in Dallas next month. The Exhibit of School Architecture showcases new construction and renovation educational projects in Texas that have been completed in the past five years.
